Functional description:

This thermic overload relay monitors the motor coil temperature indirectly via the current in the supply line. A dedicated bi-metal element with heating coil is provided for each conducting line to the motor. When the power consumption of the motor exceed the set limit for a certain period of time, the heat will cause the bi-metal element to change shape. The bi-metal element will then break contact 95-96, thus interrupting the control circuit of the motor. Additional mechanical elements trigger quickly in case of a phase drop-out. With the right type of relay and proper settings the motor will be well protected from overload, failure to start and phase drop-out.

Warning:

Terminal screws which are not sufficiently tightened may cause excessive over-heating. The relays must only be conected by specialists. Do not touch live parts !

Setting to rated current bof the motor:

The relay is set to rated current of the motor by rotating the knob ➀ until setting scale with the desired rated current correspods to the arrowhead ➈.

Changing from manual to automatic reset:

Reset button ➁ in position of arrow:

Aut = automatic reset

Man = manual rest by means of button ➂

Function of the blue button:

Button ➂ in position of arrow:

R = reset only

R O = reset and switching off for special applications, e.g. by motor starters and contactor combinations

By operation of the button ➂ in position of arow R O contact 95-96 closes..

Test before commissioning:

Press reset- and switch off button ➂ for resetting of relay. By pressing the bar ➃ into direction of arrow, the relay trips. Break contact 95-96 pens and make contact 97-98 closes. Red contact position indicator ➉ indicates off position.

Auxiliary contacts:

Break contact 95-96 and make contact 97-98 are galnaically separated. Short circuit protection of the auxiliary contacts: 6 A gl. Signalling units can be operated by the aux. contact 97-98. A sigle-circuit changeover contact can be obtained by bridging terminal 95 and 97.
