Important informations
Please note:
The starting current limiters reduce the output voltage at the load to such an extent that the set current is not exceeded. Therefore, a control electronics, a contactor, or an electromechanical component will not work properly at the output. Also for the start of electronic motors (brushless DC machines), the devices are not suitable. The starting current limiters are designed only for the operation of classic motors and ohmic loads.
Only one motor may be connected to the output of the starting current limiters. A parallel operation of several consumers via distributors or multiple sockets is not provided.
Low-torque motors and heavy-duty drives (e.g., compressors, compressors, pumps, and sometimes collector motors) may not be able to start properly with a start-up limiter. The motor does not provide the necessary torque with the limited current. For these applications we offer the type "voltage regulator". In this model, the output voltage is just set so high that the critical drives also start. The inrush current, limited only by the reduced voltage, can assume very high values for a short time. The maximum value is thus reduced so far that the fuse does not trip.
In any case, the mains supply or the generator set must supply a sufficiently high current for the requested torque.
Functional description:
The KLIBO 1Ph starting current limiter is simply plugged in between the mains and the consumer. The controller recognizes when the machine is switched on and limits the starting current to the set value. This causes a gentle and material-friendly start of the drive. Due to the adjustable current limitation, a fast start-up can be optimized so that the upstream mains fuse does not trip.
Another highlight of this control is the load detection. For many manufacturers, the start-up current limitation only works when the mains voltage is switched on with the consumer connected at the same time. On the other hand it is often not possible for the products of the competition to switch on the device between the limiter and the motor, ie at the machine. In this case, the control would be ineffective and the motor would start at a multiple of the rated current.
Not so with our 1Ph start-up limiter. This works with a load current measurement and detects when the machine (load side) or the voltage (mains side) is turned on. The function of the current limit is thus independent of the arrangement of the switch in the circuit. This makes it possible to retrofit a device, after delivery to the customer, with a current limit.
By using a bridging relay, the KLIBO 1Ph starting current limiter operates almost lossless after startup and emits no EMC interference.
Please note that only one load may be connected to the device.
