Functional description
This thermal overload relay indirectly monitors the temperature of the motor coil by measuring the current in the leads. For each conducting motor lead a bi-metal with dedicated heating coil is provided. If the power input of the motor exceeds the adjusted value over a certain period of time, the bi-metal releases contacts 95-96 and interrupts the circuit to the motor. An additional mechanical construction ensures a faster release in case of a phase failure. Therefore a correct dimensioned and adjusted motor is protected perfectly against overload, phase failure and failure to start.

Adjustments and notes
Warning:
Unsufficient screwed clamping screws causes excess heating. Only technical staff is allowed to install the device. Don't touch live parts!
Adjustment to rated motor current:
The adjustment to rated motor current is done by turning the control knob ➀ until the scale with the desired rated currentpoint to the arrowhead ➈.
Changeover from hand to automatic reset:
Changeover button ➁ at arrow position:
Aut = Automatic reset
Man = Manual reset by button
Function of the blue button:
Button ➂ at pointer position:
R = Only reset
R O = Reset by switch-off for special conditions eg. motor start and contactor combinations
After releasing the button ➂ at pointer position R O the contacts 95-96 close.
Testing before start-up:
Press reset- and switch off button ➂ to reset the relay. By pressing the bar ➃ in arrow position the relay trips. Contact 95-96 opens, contact 97-98 closes. Switched off the position indicating device ➉ indicates RED.
Auxiliary switch:
NC 95-96, NO 97-98 galvanically separated. Short-circuit protection 6 A gl. Signalling units can be operated by NO 97-98. A single-circuit changeover contact can be obtained bypassing terminal 95 and 97.
