Features
- Optimal protection against motor start in the wrong direction
- Protects the motor against a missing phase leg in line supply
- Effective protection for man and machine
- Cost-efficient complete package
Required standards
Three-phase monitoring is a mandatory requirement under DIN EN60204--1, Para. 7.8 "where a rotary field fault in the supply voltage could cause a hazardous condition or damage the machine."
Operating conditions which could cause a faulty rotational field include:
- Switching the power supply of the machine
- A portable machine with external power supply connections

Functional description
Sense of rotation locks are used in machines where startup in the wrong direction could jeopardise the drive mechanism, production materials or operating personnel. Examples of such motorized equipment are production conveyors, mixers for mortar or similar materials and transmission units. To protect such equipment from starting up in the wrong direction, this optional lock-out circuitry is available for the K900 and K3000/three-phase switch series and top-hat rail housings and custom housings. When the power is turned on the control board will detect the correct sense of rotation as well as the presence of all phase legs. When phase arrangement is correct, an output relay activates. The voltage release signal in the control circuitry is enabled by this output relay and, in turn, enables the ON/OFF switch. If there is a fault in the rotary field, the motor cannot be turned on. A phase drop-out during operation will not be detected. If desired, the switch can also be equipped with an optional indicator, either optical or acoustic.
