Direction of rotation monitoring 400V
Replaced by 8700.6003
Item No. 8700.6000
According to DIN EN60204-1 Sec 7.8, a rotational field monitoring system must be provided where an incorrect rotational field of the supply voltage can cause a hazardous condition or damage to the machine.
Special Features
- Optimal protection against starting in the wrong direction
- Starting block in case of a missing phase in the power supply
- Effective protection for both people and machines
- Cost-effective as it is supplied complete
Operating conditions that could lead to an incorrect rotational field include:
- A machine being switched from one power supply to another
- A mobile machine with a connection option for an external power supply

Function description
Direction locks are used in machines where starting in the wrong direction poses a danger to the drive, the production material, or the operating personnel. Such drives can be, for example, conveyor belts in production facilities, mixing devices for mortar and similar materials, or gearbox units.
To securely protect such drives from starting in the wrong direction, there is the option to implement direction locks in the K900 and K3000 switch series 3Ph, DIN rail enclosures, and special enclosures. This control board detects the correct direction of rotation and whether all phases are present once the mains voltage is applied. With the correct phase sequence, an output relay is activated. Through this output relay, the voltage release of the control circuit is executed, thereby enabling the readiness of the ON-OFF switch. If the rotational field is incorrect, the motor cannot be switched on.
A phase failure during motor operation cannot be detected. Upon request, the switch can be equipped with an optical or acoustic indicator.
