Important information
Please note:
The inrush current limiters reduce the output voltage at the load to ensure that the set current is not exceeded. Therefore, control electronics, a relay, or an electromechanical component will not function properly at the output. They are also not suitable for starting electronic motors (brushless direct current machines). The inrush current limiters are only designed for the operation of classic motors and resistive loads.
Only a single motor may be connected to the output of the inrush current limiters. Parallel operation of multiple loads through distributors or power strips is not permitted.
Under-dimensioned motors with low torque and drives with heavy starting (e.g., compressors, condensers, pumps, and partially collector motors) may not start correctly with an inrush current limiter. The motor does not deliver the necessary torque with the limited current. For these applications, we offer the "voltage regulator" type. In this model, the output voltage is set just high enough for the critical drives to start as well. The inrush current, limited only by the reduced voltage, can momentarily reach very high values. The maximum value is sufficiently reduced so that the fuse does not trip.
In any case, the power supply or the generator must provide a sufficiently high current for the requested torque.
Function description:
The KLIBO-1Ph inrush current limiter is simply plugged in between the power supply and the load. The control detects when the machine is turned on and limits the inrush current to the set value. This results in a smooth and material-friendly start of the drive. With the adjustable current limitation, a rapid ascent can be optimized so that the upstream network fuse does not trigger.
Another highlight of this control is load detection. With many manufacturers, the inrush current limitation only works when the mains voltage is switched on with the load connected simultaneously. In contrast, with competing products, it is often not possible to turn on the device between the limiter and the motor, i.e., at the machine. In this case, the control would be ineffective and the motor would start with a multiple of the nominal current.
Not so with our 1Ph inrush current limiter. This works with a load current measurement and detects when the machine (load side) or the voltage (network side) is turned on. The function of the current limitation is thus independent of the arrangement of the switch in the circuit. This allows a device to be retrofitted with current limitation even after delivery to the customer.
By using a bypass relay, the KLIBO-1Ph inrush current limiter operates nearly loss-free after the ramp-up and does not emit EMI disturbances.
Please note that only one load may be connected to the device.
