Functional description
Automatic star-delta starters are used with asynchronous motors from 4kW to prevent unacceptably high inrush currents during startup. The advantage over manually operated star-delta starters is that these starters have control logic or can be manually operated, allowing the startup time to be optimally adjusted to the specific application.
The startup is realized with a contactor control, a special time relay, and an integrated overload relay. By adhering to important switching sequences and locking the control, high operational safety is achieved.
The switching time should be set so that when switching from star to delta, at least 80% of the nominal speed is reached. A motor suitable for star-delta starting must have a voltage output of 380V / 660V or delta 380V at a mains voltage of 380V. Motors with 6 lead winding ends are needed for connection.
These star-delta starters are used in machine tools, woodworking machines, compressors, and more. Furthermore, these starters can also be configured with our new brake controls.
